Services to help grow T4D open source projects

Greetings everyone,

Yesterday, our Platforms & Services team at the Digital Impact Alliance (DIAL) introduced a new strategy to improve the open source software projects working in the digital development sector. Over the next few months, you’ll be hearing more about our plans to bring together these ICT4D open source projects to improve their maturity and reach. You can read more about our initial plans here:

We know that endorsing, adopting, and integrating the Principles can lead to more successful T4D open source projects, and so we want to increase their prevalence in these communities. We’re already looking at many successful case studies, and even more less-than-successful failures. And we want to learn from more of them.

So if you’ve got ideas about challenges to overcome that can lead to more sustainable, impactful open source digital development, please do get in touch with our team. We are planning our work to be highly participative with many partners — so if you’re on this list, we would love to have you involved. Feel free to reply to this email, or drop us a line directly off-list at mdowney@digitalimpactalliance.org. We’re looking forward to hear your feedback about these ideas!

Cheers,
Michael Downey
