working directly with USAID and partners to host events for the mEducation
Alliance http://www.meducationalliance.org/. As such this internship
requires flexibility, proactive planning and professionalism. Applications

Project Name: mEducation Alliance Symposium 2016 (October 18-20, 2106) and
Steering Committee Dinner Support

Project Description: The mEducation Alliance is working to empower
evidence-based decision making through an explicit focus on the evaluation
of education technology interventions. Now in its sixth year the Symposium
intends to create space for informed and honest dialogue about technology
in education. The overall theme for this year’s Symposium is From
Innovation to Impact, it will include topical discussions on: Crisis,
Refugees and Conflict; Education System Strengthening; Youth and Workforce
Development.

Work Location: Washington DC WeWork Dupont (telecommuting allowed)

Estimated Start Date: September 6, 2016 Estimated End Date: October 31, 2016,
with possibility for extension to work on future projects

Estimated Level of Effort: up to 40 days

Job Description

Provide ongoing support to Symposium planning.

Confirm presenters and work with Meeting Manager to develop welcome
packages including details related of their presentation time and
location, travel and accommodation options, internal deadlines, etc.

Respond to requests from the Steering Committee, presenters and donors
and maintain correspondence files for each (images, documents, and PDFs).

Review and format abstracts and liaise with presenters on an as-needed
basis.

Respond to all queries through the mEducation Alliance email address.

Arrange for Symposium notetakers and manage them during the conference.

Create name badges for participants.

Provide on-site support at Symposium and Steering Committee dinner.

Assist the Meeting Manager in room set-up, audio visual, food and
beverage.

Assist the Meeting Manager with related activities leading up to and day
of the event.

Assist the Meeting Manager in ordering and obtaining supplies.

Be available to attend all days of the event (October 18-20, 2016) to
assist in ad hoc activities.

Qualifications

A Bachelor degree, with at least 2 years applicable experience (includes
customer service oriented positions, volunteer positions, and internships).
Those with event planning experience will be given preference.
Undergraduates will also be considered provided the candidate has
compelling work experience.

Demonstrated interest in international development specifically in ICT
and/or education.

A flexible schedule and ability to work throughout the duration of the
contract in full and part-time days.
