Join us for a meeting of the Principles Working Group on Thursday, October 1st from 1:00-3:30PM

Dear colleagues,

Since June 2014, members of the international development community have
convened 10 times to hold detailed discussions about the Principles for
Digital Development, emergent best practice in the use of information and
communication technologies (ICTs) to support development projects,
programs, and practice.

These meetings included 9 deep dive discussions about each Principles, and
one mid-way meeting to welcome feedback on the process. The goal of this
community discussion period was to gather community feedback on what the
Principles mean in practice, and how to identify and overcome barriers to
their successful operationalization.

Highlights of these 9 deep dive discussions have been synthesized and
shared through two-page community insights documents that are now available
on the digitalprinciples.org website. A more nuanced reflection of these
conversations, and an exploration of both barriers and recommended
approaches to overcome them, are now being crafted into a synthesis report
that is due to be released in January 2016. This report will be released at
a large scale, day-long Principles event in Washington, DC on January 21,
2016.

The purpose of this Working Group meeting is to update the community on
this process by:

  • Sharing highlights of what has been accomplished to date
  • Previewing, and seeking feedback on, specific aspects of draft report
    content, e.g.
    • Synergies & Tensions between Principles
    • Identifying & Overcoming Barriers
  • Gathering feedback on the format/structure of the report
  • Requesting the community‚Äôs substantive engagement in responding to
    report drafts
  • Discussing plans and soliciting input for the structure of the
    Principles event in January
